This month's In The Lupe is more of a potpourri of information bits that I've collected that I believe KIT CAR's readers should know about. But we'll return with another "regular" editorial in the next issue, hopefully.
Kit Car Moves Its OfficesWe've noted it in several spots throughout this magazine, but here's another one: KIT CAR is moving their editorial offices. Past addresses have included sites in Michigan and at 720 Hundley Way in Placentia, California, but those addresses are no longer any good.
The new address for KIT CAR is 774 S. Placentia Ave., Placentia, CA 92870. The magazine's e-mail address, kitcarmag@primedia.com, will stay the same. Those companies interested in advertising should call (714) 939-2464.
Kit Car Dealer ProgramCan't ever find KIT CAR at your local bookstore, coffee house, or parts house? Here's the chance to sell KIT CAR and become a dealer. Benefits of selling KIT CAR are:
1) Additional income! (make money on each magazine you sell).
2) Provide new project ideas. (Suggestive selling always works).
3) Inspire your customers to buy more products. (KIT CAR is a great reference tool).
4) Increase your walk-in traffic. (If they know you have it customers will be back).
5) Free Display Fixture for your store. (No cost to you).
6) Full credit on unsold copies an option (or you can keep them and sell the old issues when a customer is looking for the one they didn't get).
To get set up as a KIT CAR dealer, call Retail Vision, our friendly customer service team, for details at (800) 381-1288.
Poster ExplanationAs you might have noticed if you've flipped through the magazine this month, there is a fold-out poster stuck in the middle of the book. If you're a regular reader of KIT CAR, then you may remember Bobbie Burton's car featured in the Nov. '04 issue of the magazine. The good folks at Shell Valley Companies, who supplied Burton with the kit used in the creation of his ride, were so impressed with the workmanship demonstrated with that car that they decided to produce a poster of the vehicle, which we are happy to offer in this month's issue. We'll be doing more posters in the future, too, as we find exceptional cars and kit manufacturers to highlight, so keep an eye out for the next one.
2005 Run & Gun UpdateYes, Run & Gun is on for 2005, and here are some of the updates we have for you. The event will be held August 25-27, with a rain date on August 28. It will be held at Gateway International Raceway, which is just across the mighty Mississippi River from St. Louis in Illinois.
We're still working out the details for the new Manufacturer's Cup race, which will pit manufacturers racing against each other for year-long bragging rights. Also, the host hotel will again be the Holiday Inn in Collinsville (IL), which is under new management. They are located at 1000 Eastport Plaza Dr., Collinsville, IL 62234, and can be reached via telephone at (618) 345-2800, and tell them you're booking a room for the Run & Gun! For more info on the event itself, check our Web site at: www.kitcarmag.com.
A Test For Car GuysBeing that we're car guys, I found this little test a few years ago very interesting. It actually tells a lot about your personality. Take it, and see if your answer varies from your friend's. Here's the test:
Alien beings from a highly advanced society visit Earth, and you are the first human they encounter. As a token of their intergalactic friendship, they present you with a small but incredibly sophisticated device that is capable of curing all disease, provide an infinite supply of clean energy, wipe out hunger and poverty, and permanently eliminate oppression and violence over the entire Earth.
You decide to:1.) Present it to the president of the United States.
2.) Present it to the secretary of the United Nations.
3.) Take it apart.
Exactly. Me too.
