The Fine Nine judges looked for originality in design, the innovation incorporated in the vehicle, plus the overall workmanship. It was not a points race and they didn't look at the other judges' sheets (from the other classes) to determine a winner. Jack and Sue White from Spokane, Washington, won the $20,000 and the Gold Award trophy (a sculpture made by Larry Henley) for their two-tone silver, Viper V-10-powered, '36 Chrysler Airflow. Darryl was happy with the outcome of this year's show, so the big pay-off will return next year, too. And, if you want to see more of the custom cars from Darryl's Tulsa show, check out the September 2004 issue of Custom Rodder magazine (on sale in July) or, for the street rods, the July 2004 issue of Street Rodder.
