If you saw the last issue of KIT CAR, you'll remember Part One of this story: where a group of students spent a few days building a Factory Five Roadsters' Cobra replica.
Factory Five has always promoted the idea if you purchase an FFR roadster kit, you not only receive all the parts, but also the support you need to complete your car. To that end, they've even sponsored building courses, such as the one showcased here on the pages of KIT CAR.
With support from Factory Five, Flint, Michigan's Mott Community College, through M-TEC (the Michigan Technical Education Center in nearby Howell) offers a three-day build school in a new, state-of-the-art industrial technical trade school, and we're following along to see how they do it.
During the three-day school course, 15 students learn how to organize and manage the process of constructing a replicar by actually assembling it! The classes meet Friday through Sunday, and cost $700 (and you might be able to find financial relief through some automotive tuition assistance programs).
Part One of this two-part series covered the initial build-up, assembling the chassis components and suspension, attaching the gas tank and some interior aluminum panels, and running brake lines. We pick up where we left off, just after the engine went in.
As the car goes together, our thought from the last installment seems to be coming true: Now everybody is going to want to stay after school to help out!
