2006 Barret Jackson Auction
Here's a dilemma: The auction program listed this car as a Devin SS, which can command prices north of $200,000. This one sold for $129,600 at the Barrett-Jackson auction, but according to our Devin expert, KIT CAR contributor Harold Pace, it isn't an SS. Pace, who owns the last of the 18 Devins issued with a chassis number and knew Bill Devin personally, cites numerous flaws in the official description of this car and says it's a Devin kit car, not an original. The bigger deal might be when the new owner finds out it's worth closer to $50,000 as a kit, nearly $80,000 less than what he paid for it-but only if he thought it was an original SS. View Related Article
