More than 50 cars lapped the facility.  The road course was completed... Shell Valley debuted two cars at Run And Gun--its new '34 Ford A-Bone and its Venom 427. The '34 Ford is built on a Cobra chassis and sports a 383 Chevy mill pumping out 400 horses.  The Venom 427 is powered by...  The Venom 427 is powered by 500hp aluminum-clad Ford 427.  Pushing to the extreme on...  Pushing to the extreme on the road course was Jim Harden in his 600hp Chevy 529-motorized MidStates Cobra. Spin-outs are common when going all-out.  On his way to a potential...  On his way to a potential autocross trophy, Mike Miller drove his GSR Corvette a bit too hard and spun and smoked on the course. Many had the same fate.  Crossing the road course finish...  Crossing the road course finish line at 145 mph was Bob Self, in his Contemporary Cobra en route to a fourth-place finish.  Cruising home after a Second...  Cruising home after a Second Place road course finish in his class was Lew Payne in his CMC Snake.  Taking the checkered flag...  Taking the checkered flag in his Superformance Cobra was Doug Reed. His 500hp Ford 408 helped him to a First Place finish on the road course.  John Gyann was blazing along...  John Gyann was blazing along the road course in record time, when his right spindle failed and he lost his wheel, at 150 mph. Gyann expertly steered his "three-wheeler" out of trouble, and his errant hub came to rest nearby. Gyann was back on the course in an hour, after a wheel and hub change.  Waiting for his run, David...  Waiting for his run, David Serchuk idles his Shell Valley powerplant--a 600hp Ford 358. Moments later, he blazed down the quarter-mile in 10.81 seconds.
