Two Rcr40 Mk1s Engine
The engine in Ray's Gulf Racing replica is a Ford Racing Boss 347 Stroker with Air Flow Research Heads, 48mm IDA carbs, and a Weber intake manifold. The RCR stainless steel Bundle of Snakes headers and exhaust system look like they'd add at least 500 horses to the mix.

Two Rcr40 Mk1s Interior
The original Ford GT40s that raced at Le Mans were all righthand drive. When Ray replicated #1075, the GT40 MkI that won Le Mans in '68 and '69, his car had to be righthand drive. The seats are leather and are from RCR.

Dean's #33 RCR40 MkI ran strong at the '07 Run 'N' Gun, going some 30 mph faster down the front straight at Gateway International Raceway than his Cobra roadster replica did the previous year.

Two Rcr40 Mk1s Interior 2
Originally, the #1083 GT40 MkI that Dean reproduced had lefthand drive. Since Dean's used to driving and racing a lefthand drive car, he didn't worry about this detail.

Two Rcr40 Mk1s Controls
These three switches beneath the center armrest in Dean's car enable him to reduce timing advance by two, three, or four degrees. If Speed Racer had this option in his Mach 5, the show would have been resolved in one episode!

Two Rcr40 Mk1s Weber Carburetors
There's nothing quite so sexy as vintage Italian Weber carburetors under Lexan, as seen in Dean's MkI.

Two Rcr40 Mk1s 33 Driver
American racing legend Dan Gurney is Dean Lampe's favorite race car driver. They both stand 6 feet, 2 inches, and they both fit in a GT40-so long as there's a Gurney Bubble in the roof. Notice that Dean has his hand right by the Bubble?

Two Rcr40 Mk1s Rear Passenger View
The round red marker light made the JW Racing Gulf Team car easy to identify at night during the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1968. At 200 mph, all one could see was a red blur.

Here's a closer view of the red rear right flank marker light on Ray's car. In researching the particulars of the original #1075, he learned that the light came from a British WWII bomber.

Two Rcr40 Mk1s 33 Rear
Dean's RCR40 MkI is noticeably wider in the rear than Ray's is. That's because the original #1083 was built to the same specifications as the cars that were campaigned at Le Mans in '69, which were wider than the cars raced in '68 to accommodate the wider wheels and tires used during Le Mans in '69.
