The chassis is a standard 103-inch wheelbase unit from California Custom Roadsters (Chino, CA). A Currie 9-inch rear (3.25:1) and CCR hairpins are used out back with a pair of Aldan coilover shocks to help keep the wheels on the ground. The front uses a 4-inch dropped tube axle and another pair of CCR hairpins. The aluminum driveshaft came from Inland Empire Driveline (Ontario, CA). Backed to a polished C4 trans, Bill's 306 was bumped up a few cubes from 302 by Jim Grubbs Motorsports (Valencia, CA). Jim used a 10:1 compression ratio, Air Research aluminum heads (1.90/1.60), and a dual Edelbrock 500-cfm carb setup (atop an Edelbrock manifold) to produce 344 horses at 6,200 rpm on his own engine dyno. Spark is managed through an MSD system, and exhaust runs out Sanderson headers.

Here's the finished product from Pete Engel's Westminster Auto Upholstery: straight and even pleats done in blood-red leather over a custom bench seat. Pete also installed the charcoal wool carpet. The dash has a full complement of Ford Motorsports gauges (wiring via a Painless kit) while a Billet Specialties steering wheel (bolted to a Flaming River stainless tilt column) helps Bill aim down the road. The Gennie shifter looks good topped with a mini piston.
