Picture Perfect
On the chassis dyno, the engine in Eddy's Daytona pulled 444.7 horsepower (at 5,600 rpm) at the rear wheel, with a peak of 420 pounds of torque at 4,700 rpm. Not bad for a 302 stroked to 331 cubes! Built by Greg Grosset at Total Performance (Santee, CA), the small-block uses a 3.250-inch 4340 forged Eagle crank, 5.400-inch H-beam Eagle rods, and SRP flat-top pistons (10:1) to get those dyno numbers. Eight Injection Perfection throttle bodies feed the V-8, while custom headers from Mark Morton (Temecula, CA) help extract the spent gasses out to the twin glasspack mufflers.
