Keeping It Cool Griffin Aluminum Radiator
A custom down-flow Griffin aluminum radiator is used for this application. It's mounted at a 45-degree angle, so the large radiator can fit under the low-slung GTO nose. The radiator is oversized to cool engines up to 800 hp.

Keeping It Cool Upper Fan Mounts
Upper fan mounts were fabricated by welding two tabs onto a chassis crossmember. The slots provided adjustability for fan placement in relation to the radiator.

Keeping It Cool L Brackets
Simple L brackets were used for the lower mounts since the upper mounts provide all the vertical support. It's needed to maintain fan shroud positioning against the radiator's bottom tank.

Keeping It Cool Coolant Piping
304 stainless steel in the form of J bends, 90-degree, 45-degree angles, and straight in 1 1/2-inch and 1 3/4-inch-diameter tubing were used to fabricate the coolant piping.

Keeping It Cool Hose Clamps
Hose clamps with the teeth removed made an excellent stencil for tack welding the tubing (the removal of the hose clamps with teeth created an excellent stencil for tack welding the tubing). This is especially helpful with stainless, as magnets are useless.

Keeping It Cool Tubing Progression
After welding, the tubing went through a progression of steps to get to a finished state. A bench grinder was used for major material removal, hand files for cleanup, flap sanding wheels for surface smoothing, and buffing wheel for final polish.

Keeping It Cool Water Pump
A new water pump inlet opening was created using a hole saw. While this is a somewhat crude approach, we find a way to get the job done with tools available here at LCG.

Keeping It Cool Water Pump
The water pump was mounted to the engine and has a new inlet tube in place. The old inlet tube position was hidden behind the serpentine belt idler pulley to the right of the new inlet.

Keeping It Cool Extra Coolant Fill
An extra coolant fill hole was added at this portion of the piping, since it's above radiator level. Coolant will be added here to displace air that would otherwise cause cooling-system issues.
